Above is a quote from my rules as of 2/17/2026. I figured I'd make a post to clarify my thoughts on AI and how I use it. As hypocritical as it might seem, I do somewhat regularly utilize AI for AI Programming & Research. The Cuddly Dragon servers all utilize scripts and programs generated by AI to help maintain their upkeep and/or enhance the user experience... Some examples of such usage. Scouring a code repository to gain an understanding about certain mechanics and how programs might work. Or, writing bash scripts to ensure a .exe file is running at all times.
However I do consider AI artwork to be theft. Generative AI used to produce creative works in the form of graphics, sound or literature is forbidden on this server.
In regards to how I will treat enforcement, I'm forced to sort of just read the room and deal with it as I see fit. AI-generated media is bleeding into our feeds and is becoming more and more difficult to tell. There will be some media that will slip past, and some room for error must be granted for those that can't tell. If you use AI in your profile picture or signature, I will judge you but I will allow it. (Please, just hire an artist or draw something up yourself)
In short regarding my usage of AI in this community (and if I establish areas where staff will use it):
- Cuddly Dragon will NEVER use generative AI to create artwork, sound, or literature and will utilize artists or human volunteers for this type of work.
- Cuddly Dragon WILL utilize AI to generate code, documentation or research in service of the community or my personal sandbox projects.
